How to prepare for UHS final-year MBBS medicine

From 2026 the UHS medicine theory papers are MCQ-only, so question practice is the core of revision.

Exam facts and free MCQs

How we made this

We built this guide from the UHS final professional MBBS scheme and final-year syllabus, and from news reports of the UHS decision to move all theory exams to MCQs from 2026. Written in October 2026. UHS is introducing these changes now, so check uhs.edu.pk for the current scheme, pass marks and date sheet.

Step by step

  1. Read the UHS scheme and syllabus Check which topics fall in Paper I and Paper II and the current marks scheme.
  2. Switch to MCQ thinking With no essays, practise choosing the single best answer and reading explanations, rather than writing long answers.
  3. Revise by system Work through one system at a time, then do questions on it the same day.
  4. Keep up internal assessment Internal assessment is 20% of your result, so attend and do well in college tests.
  5. Practise clinical skills Rehearse history and examination for OSCE-style stations each week.
  6. Do timed papers In the final weeks, sit full timed MCQ papers for each paper and review every mistake.

Short on time?

  1. Do MCQs with explanations every day.
  2. Focus on common, high-yield conditions.
  3. Do at least one timed paper for Paper I and Paper II.

Common mistakes

  • Preparing for essays that no longer appear in the theory papers.
  • Ignoring internal assessment, which counts towards the final result.
  • Leaving clinical practice until just before the exam.

Screen or paper?

Try one week on screen. If you remember what you read and can keep going for 2–3 hours, stay on screen. If not, use Route 1 and use the website only for MCQ practice.
